:psychotic: OFFICIAL JUDGE COMMENTARY - BENJAMIN BEAR

EVALUATION OF YOUR CHALLENGE 1 TRACK

The instrumental: 7 Not bad, but a little formulaic. I'm going to pick on this aspect thoughout this review, though I think it's what you guys were going for.

Timing: 7 Timing was genereally ok, but there were enough awkward phrasings and missteps to notice.

Energy: 7 Hard to judge the energy of a track that you're just supposed to chill to. You didn't overpower it, but you didn't sound bored either.

Emotion: 6 I really didn't feel like you were serious, but I could tell you were at least having fun.

Musicality: 5 This was too formulaic to really get high marks, you're imitating and not innovating.

Creativeness: 4 See above. While I didn't mind the G-funk sound, I heard it an awful lot in the mid-90s.

Flow variety: 6 Can I say something? One of you sounds like High-C. You all had different flows which is why you got a 6, but I never noticed any dramatic switchups or changes in cadence.

Vocal quality: 7 The vocals were a tad tinny, but not so much that it was distracting.

Additional comments: I could kind of see where you were going with this, but it's a road that's been travelled so much, they've had it repaved and there's usually a lot of contsruction near the off ramps. It was well done, but not particularly memorable just because it sounds like every other song that sounds like that.

Total Score (out of 10): 6

EVALUATION OF YOUR MUSIC SITE UPDATES

First impression without having to scroll or click through anything: I like that painting.

Graphical attractiveness: I like that painting.

Cohesiveness: Well, it looks cool.

Amount of content: Hard to say, it's myspace.

Overall professionalism of the sites: It actually looks pretty good. And....I like that painting.

Score for myspace: 8

I like how laid back it is, even if the sound is the 1 millionth clone of what we had in the 90's.
The myspace looks like myspace with a pretty background, nothing shocking there.

:faill: OFFICIAL JUDGE COMMENTARY - MADHATTER

EVALUATION OF YOUR CHALLENGE 1 TRACK

The instrumental: Yup, it's a classic, mellow, rolling 90's beat like people are saying here. It's crescent fresh, and I definitely dig it.

Timing: Not extremely strong. Except for Fatty, he's on point. Sorry to the other two.

Energy: Decent enough... but Fatty shines above here as well.

Emotion: Fatty is seriously like Super Mario Sunshine here. Sorry, that's bad wordplay, I don't mean to say he sounds like a cute video game. He's just the shiniest in the group. I will say the other guys do have emotion though, and that's good. You guys sound pretty confident, but Fatty has his balls flapping on the table.

Musicality: The beat itself is only a few bars, so it was no real challenge to anyone's musicality here. You guys did well as far as riding the beat, although Fatty was the only one that wasn't a little shaky at points. "CUMFUCIUS SAYS" and "They're gonna f-ffind out!"stick out like an albino kid's sore thumb.

Creativeness: There's not much to a track like this, it's been done a million times. But you accomplished it, at least.

Flow variety: All three are good at switching up their cadence. Bravo on that!

Vocal quality: Clear, but not all rappers have been mixed evenly, in fact, it's quite spiked between them.

Additional comments: I promised to be completely honest here, so let's talk about the elephant in the room. While the other dudes don't suck hard, Fatty Goodness would probably have had a much better chance entering by himself. He's just several levels past the other guys here. Decent crew-type track, though.

EVALUATION OF YOUR MUSIC SITE UPDATES

First impression without having to scroll or click through anything: Personally, I like all the oriental stuff, but at first glance I think someone who isn't in the know of you guys might think they're about to see a Japanese metrosexual steakhouse table dancing group that wears eccentricly colored, not quite opaque, soft fabrics (Sorry to be extravagant here, but the name doesn't match the splash screen).

Graphical attractiveness: I like the Japanese theme. Godzilla is laying the fucking smack down! Everything is nice and tight and matching, and all the graphics are crisp and EQUALLY CUT, which I dig. I like when all graphics in a column are the same width, it's more professional that way. My only small gripe is that you can still see some sort of line template on your contact image. Also, the gray borders aren't even right compared to the actual click space. But I'm being picky here. The MySpace looks nice, boys. I like the color spectrum, and the way you colored the different artists worked and worked well. Pleasing on the eyes, this page.

Cohesiveness: Everything makes total sense and is to the point with a great amount of flair. Awesome.

Amount of content: Fantastic! A wonderful bio, individual member bios, graphical influences... The only complaint here is that there's not nearly enough pictures of you guys. The graphics for Silky Slimz are cool and all, but we need to be sure we know what you look like. If this is so Japanese themed, then I declare a need for fan service!

Overall professionalism of the sites: Very pleasing, very clean for a DIY outfit. You guys set the bar for a MySpace in this competition so far. And while that may sound goofy, at least it's a professional compliment. Looking good, guys.

Additional comments: The page keeps me interested. I would love to see an official site with even more focus on this theme without all the bullshit MySpace tacks on.

Another solid jam. This shit is heating up.
Fatty might be the strongest voice, but I actually don't agree with Hatter on the whole 'Elephant' in the room thing.
Also, I had a very bad day yesterday.
Checkin this and Logic 1's jams (both fairly mellow and laaaaaid back) were what I needed to start my day right.
So maybe I'm biased.
Well, glad I'm not a judge. I thought this jam was solid, if not the most original thing ever.
But if you did something all experimental and out there, you woulda probably get docked for that.
Playing it somewhat safe at this stage with a solid track seems smart to me.

I keep forgetting about al the cool emoticons. :enjoying_mah_playlist:

it's only 2 guys on the track. Master and Ellephino. The weird intros were VERY intentional. no time to mix better. time was a huge issue here. literally, for me, like 5 minutes to record. so i had to just do it without being able to hammer some things out and all that jazz. time shouldn't be a problem for the rest of the challenges though. so don't worry.

now, let me give you this  and a :in_love: just because i think you're special.

OFFICIAL JUDGE COMMENTARY - DR. AWKWARD

EVALUATION OF YOUR CHALLENGE 1 TRACK

The instrumental: Being a Cali boy, I'm a huge 90's west coast G Funk fan, but this beat's "spray can shaker" noise followed by the high pitch tone drove me nuts. Not my fave beat in the world.

Timing: L-Phi timing was pretty good throughout, had a stumble when you started a little early on the verse where you and CM3K switched off. CM you had a few stumbles in various spots. Tighten it up!

Energy: Energy was cool, laid back, matched the beat. Hook had a nice energy as well.

Emotion: Felt what you were trying to portray, a few stumbles took me out of it though.

Musicality: I liked the switching between Lord and Master on the final verse. The hook was tight.

Creativeness: Nothing terribly creative here, but as I said before liked the mid verse switch.

Flow variety: I really liked Lords switching throughout the track, helped move it along, especially since you and CM have a very similar flow at times.

Vocal quality: Vocals felt a bit low at times, but this may have been due to the annoying high pitch tone of the beat, hard to tell. Also the intro was way too many layers and very hard to hear.

Additional comments:TIGHTEN IT UP!

EVALUATION OF YOUR MUSIC SITE UPDATES

First impression without having to scroll or click through anything: Like the asian theme, very cool

Graphical attractiveness: Like it, I feel it alot. Samurai graphics are always nice. Bio box cuts off some of the far fetched story of your meeting

Cohesiveness: Keeps the japanese flavor throughout, very nice

Amount of content: Good amount of content, nice story about meeting, Would have like to see more pictures of the actual group members

Overall professionalism of the sites: Like it, so far my favorite of the submissions myspace, Thumbs Up.

Additional comments: tl;dr Fix the bio box, more pictures of members.

:faill: OFFICIAL JUDGE COMMENTARY - CUTTERJ

EVALUATION OF YOUR CHALLENGE 1 TRACK

The instrumental: Cool beat except for that sound effect that played on beat 5 of every 8-count. That got a little annoying.

Timing: Could be sharpened up a touch.

Energy: Needs a little boost. It sounded like you guys were dodging the mic in places but at other times the energy hit appropriately hard.

Emotion: I couldn't get a feel for what you were trying to accomplish with this track. Were you being serious?

Musicality: To be memorable, reach out for more than just the bare minimum.

Creativeness: This is the #1 thing this jam needs more of. Using cliches like "in it to win it" can turn a listener off fast.

Flow variety: I felt that the variety was interesting enough to keep me listening.

Vocal quality: Give us more confidence, energy, and power!

EVALUATION OF YOUR MUSIC SITE UPDATES

First impression without having to scroll or click through anything: Good looking site!

Graphical attractiveness: I really dug the background and color scheme.

Cohesiveness: Made sense to me.

Amount of content: Appropriate.

:faill: OFFICIAL JUDGE COMMENTARY - DEAFINITION

EVALUATION OF YOUR CHALLENGE 1 TRACK

The instrumental:Loved it, but I have to Agree with Cutter on this one. That trickling guitar in the background started to turn me off after about the 4th bar.

Timing: Timing was pretty good, I felt that Fatty fell short of a few of the bars, not ending it quite right. Mostly during the Godzilla part. Master's was pretty on point but the lines were a little too spacial for them to be off beat.

Energy:Eeeeeh. Haha. Well Fatty got pretty close, just a little more feeling and it's good to go. Master, I felt like you were having a conversation with me rather than spitting me a verse, turn it up a notch.

Emotion:Same as above.

Musicality:Fatty, your faults are few and far between, just work on the energy, specially on a battle track-ish sound like this. Master, you need an overhaul on your flow. Don't shorten up your lines so much, there's an unlimited amount of combination of words to use so don't be afraid to experiment.

Creativeness: A pretty standard song, Fatty pulled out some pretty boss multis, which I'm always a fan of.

Flow variety:Fatty has this won as well, good job. Master, work on packing some more syllables in there, that will give more options for cadence switch ups instead of those stabbing one syllable words like "Hate-on-us." It's pretty elementary and by the sounds of it, you have it in you to be way better.

Vocal quality:Well at least I can hear you, for the most part anyways. Another one of those things that Master should probably get fixed, your vocals sound just a tab bit buried.

Additional comments: Well, I think this song honestly missed the point a bit. I didn't really learn much about you guys except for where you're from, you like Godzilla, and you have a thing for samurai swords. It was borderline battle track, a decent one mind you, but not quite what I was hoping to hear for this specific challenge.

EVALUATION OF YOUR MUSIC SITE UPDATES

First impression without having to scroll or click through anything: Best one I've seen so far. Love the background, love the splash. Awesome job.

Graphical attractiveness:The background is eye catching, not so sure I dig the font on the splash.

Cohesiveness:Well put together, kudos.

Amount of content:You got some pretty amusing things in there, unnecessary, but amusing all the same. Other than that, looks good.

Overall professionalism of the sites: I wouldn't exactly call it pro work, but for a myspace page I give it a B+.

Additional comments:Fix that god damn font.
Deafinition: I'm going to rip off twitter and make a site for following poop tales, and call it Pooper.
I shall be following your pooper soon.

Oh damn. I re-listened and now I see that there's only two people on the track, I just figured guy 3 sounded a lot like guy 1, haha.

This was easy for me to mistake because more than two people's names are getting shouted out both at the beginning and during the chorus. Not only that, but you've got Cumfucius as well as Master being said, and L-Phi as well as Fatty being said. Plus mentioning others. To a first time listener, this could get REAL confusing. Hell, I know both of you guys and I was confused.

I want to re-iterate that Master doesn't suck, but I think Fatty is just real, real strong. Sticks out.

G'yeah...you know I'm a sucker for those 90's new york smooth as fuck beats. Why do you have to pull my heart strings like that?
Good track tho boys...Cummy is harder to hear unfortunately...but that can be easily fixed. So IS there a 3rd member? I'm confused...and you wont like me when I'm confused...probably? Really tho, the beat was dope. The words and timing were great, my only prob is with the vocal levels.

If you guys don't ask me to collab at some point, I'll send you a ransom note... :yuush:

there are 4 members, guys. Master, Ellephino, Thunderpimp, and Black Guy. Black Guy is more of an accessory, but Thunderpimp does rap. He couldn't get on the track cuz he wasn't back from vacation. He'll be on the next things.

And Pops, I can safely say we want to collab with you, too. We'll be in touch...
